Growing in size up to 45 feet, Whale Sharks are the largest fish in existence! They feed primary on plankton, though they have been recorded feasting on schools of sardines and mackerel. This gentle giants of the open ocean venture to the Bay of La Paz each winter to feed on the abundant plankton bloom that occurs here. They come quite close to shore and have even been sighted in the channel between La Paz and Mogote, right off the Malecon. Viewing these great creatures is truly a wonderful awe-inspiring experience that you'll remember for the rest of your life. Our prime Whale Shark viewing season runs from December to March.
Our Whale Shark tours last two hours and depart from the Malecon in front of Hotel La Perla. The tours are very affordable with rates just $90 usd or $1200 pesos for 1-2 people, $115 usd or $1500 pesos for 3-4 people, and for groups of 5 or more the rate is $30 usd or $400 pesos per person.
